35th Women’s Senior Stroke Play heads to Waldon on Lake Conroe

ADDISON – The 35th Women’s Senior Stroke Play is set for Oct. 14-16 at Walden on Lake Conroe, marking the first time the tournament will be held at this venue. The 54-hole stroke play tournament is the second-to-last event on the Women’s Texas Golf Association’s 2024 calendar.

“We are excited to bring this event to a new venue,” said TGA Director of Women’s Golf Kristi Knight. “This tournament has a lot of history and has been won by USGA champions and women who are now in the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. We look forward to this tournament every year, and we are excited to see what comes next.”

Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club, located 45 minutes north of Northgate, opened in 1976. Designed by Robert Van Hagge and Bruce Devlin, the course features towering trees and winding fairways, making every shot crucial. Due to its prestige, Walden has hosted significant events, including the TGA South Amateur Championship, Women’s Texas Cup, and PGA Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School.

At the 34th Senior Women’s Stroke Play held at Bentwood Country Club, Mina Hardin claimed the title, marking her third championship. Hardin carded a 54-hole 74-75-74 223 total to win by five strokes over the rest of the field. Hardin becomes the seventh player to win the Founders Cup Trophy multiple times.

The 35th Women’s Senior Stroke Play will begin Monday, Oct. 14, at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
