Entry & Eligibility Information

Entries Open: Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 9:00 AM

Entries Close: Monday, May 27, 2024 at 5:00 PM

Entry Fee: $340 (Boys and Girls Divisions) / $325 (Boys and Girls 14 & Under Divisions)

Eligibility: Players must have a current membership with a member of the Texas Junior Golf Alliance and have full-time residency in Texas.

Entry Procedure: Players in the Boys Division must have an exemption or qualify through one of 12 Qualifying Sites. Players in the Girls Division as well as the Boys and Girls 14 & Under Divisions with Priority Entry Status will be added to the field first, while players without Priority Status will be added based on available spots in the field and when they signed up. Championship Information

Exemptions Available: Champions of the Boys & Girls 15-18 Divisions will receive an exemption into the US Junior Amateur and the US Girls’ Junior.

Format/Field Size: The championship will be an individual stroke play competition with four (4) age divisions: Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18, Boys 14 & Under, and Girls 14 & Under. The Boys 15-18 Division will compete on the Island Course and the other three divisions will compete on the Lake Course. The Boys and Girls 15-18 Divisions will play 54 holes with a cut after the second round. The Boys and Girls 14 & Under Divisions will play 36 holes.

The field is limited to 240 players, as outlined below

Boys 15-18 Division – 120 players
Girls 15-18 Division – 60 players
Boys 14 & Under Division – 45 players
Girls 14 & Under Division – 15 players

At the conclusion of 36 holes, the Boys Division will be cut to the low 45 players (and ties) and the Girls Division will be cut to the low 27 players (and ties).

Practice Round Information: The official practice round will take place on Sunday, July 28 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The procedure for making practice round tee times will be released once the field is set.

Registration Information: Official player registration will take place on Sunday, July 27 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM next to the golf shop.

Starting Times/Pairings Information

Starting times/pairings for the first round will be available Friday, July 26 online at txga.org. Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play online at txga.org.

Caddies

Caddies are NOT permitted for the championship. A player must not have a caddie during a round.

The LJT has partnered with the following hotel to serve as the designated host hotel for the Texas Junior Amateur. Participants are responsible for individually booking their room for the championship, if needed.

QUALIFYING

Boys Division Qualifying

Players competing in the Boys Division of the 98th Texas Junior Amateur must compete in and gain entry through a qualifier, unless they are previously exempt for the event.Qualifying is for the Boys Division only. All players registered for the Girls 14U, Boys 14U, and Girls Divisions will gain entry according to the TJA Priority Entry System Criteria which can be found on the LJT landing page.

All qualifiers are 18 holes of stroke play competition and are administered by the host club. Each player may only compete in one of the LJT qualifying sites listed below. Pairings and available qualifying spots for each qualifying site will be published online and released via email on Wednesday, May 29. The qualifying fee is $90, and players that successfully qualify for the 98th Texas Junior Amateur will be charged the remaining $250 fee as they are added to the championship field.

Last Chance Qualifying Events

Any player that fails to qualify for the 98th Texas Junior Amateur at any of the sites listed above, has the additional opportunity to play in a Last Chance Qualifying Event listed below. The last chance qualifiers are administered by the NTPGA & STPGA. The qualifying fee is $90 and the first round score will be used for the last chance qualifier.
