27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship set for June 2-4 at Trinity Forest Golf Club
The Legends Junior Tour opens its summer stretch with one of its marquee events — the 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, set for June 2-4 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
The prestigious all-boys major championship will draw the top junior golfers from Texas and surrounding states, with an 84-player field competing over 54 holes of stroke play. Following 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 30 players and ties for the final round.
“It’s always exciting getting to this part of the year,” said Legends Junior Tour Director Scott Davidson. “This championship kicks off the summer stretch of some of the best golf you’ll see. It’s well-respected because of the names that have come through — and not only competed but won. Now it’s this year’s players looking to do the same, whether it’s their fourth time at the event or their first.”
Huntington National Banks serves as the Official Banking Partner of the Texas Golf Association. The bank believes the principles that define great golf also empower strong financial futures: precision, patience and progress. Huntington has expanded its Texas presence through partnerships with Veritex and Cadence Bank, strengthening its footprint in key markets. It invests in the game, the people who shape it, and the potential it represents through tournaments like the Byron Nelson Junior Championship, and Team Huntington Ambassadors, including previous Byron Nelson Junior Championship winners currently on the PGA Tour, Pierceson Coody and Chandler Phillips, and World No. 2 ranked Amateur Preston Stout.
Trinity Forest Golf Club, located just south of downtown Dallas, is one of the most distinctive layouts in Texas. Designed by acclaimed architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and opened in 2016 on a reclaimed landfill site within the Great Trinity Forest, the course was built to showcase strategic, creative golf while restoring the natural landscape surrounding it.
The treeless, links-inspired design features rolling terrain, firm playing surfaces and dramatic bunkering that rewards precision and adaptability — hallmarks of the Coore & Crenshaw philosophy. Its windswept character sets it apart from traditional parkland courses in the region.
Despite its short history, Trinity Forest has already hosted elite competition, including the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson in 2018 and 2019, the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur and the 115th Texas Amateur. The club is also slated to host the 2031 U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur and serves as the home course for the SMU golf programs.
“We are excited for Trinity Forest Golf Club to host this event,” Davidson said. “Their membership and staff have been eager to see some of the best junior golfers compete on their course. The challenge Trinity Forest provides, combined with the caliber of this field, will make for a great tournament and really showcase talent and creativity.”
The championship serves as the second boys’ major of the 2025 LJT season, and its alumni list reads like a who’s who of elite amateur and professional golf: Ryan Baca, Cody Gribble, Chandler Phillips, Pierceson Coody, Jordan Spieth and Preston Stout. Only Spieth and Stout have claimed the title three times.
This year’s field is stacked with rising stars looking to add to already impressive résumés:
- Aadi Parmar, Selma, Texas — Ranked 72nd on Junior Golf Scoreboard; T-5 finish at the 26th Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship; multi-time LJT champion; Texas Tech University commit.
- Brooks Harper — Ranked 80th on Junior Golf Scoreboard; University of Texas commit; T-5 finish at the 25th Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship.
- Isiah Igo, Sundown, Texas — Ranked 82nd on Junior Golf Scoreboard; University of Oklahoma commit; Round of 64 at the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur.

At the 26th Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, Brooks Simmons of Dallas claimed the title in dramatic fashion. Starting the final round trailing fellow Highland Park teammate Jeffrey Rubenstein, also of Dallas, Simmons matched him shot for shot before draining a downhill birdie putt on No. 18 to seal the win. Simmons posted rounds of 68-68-68 for a 6-under 204, adding his name to an elite list of past champions — and another University of Texas commit to the record books.
The event is recognized by World Amateur Golf, Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. Top finishers earn valuable AJGA Performance Stars, including Fully Exempt status.
An 18-hole qualifier will be held Friday, May 29, at Cedar Crest Golf Course, with [X] spots available in the tournament field.
The opening round tees off Tuesday June 2, at 8 a.m. from both No.1 and No.10 tees. To learn more about the 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, click here.
