The 25th Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the most prestigious all-boys junior golf tournament in Texas, is scheduled to take place from June 4th to 6th at Lakewood Country Club.

“We’re thrilled for another exciting year of the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship,” said Scott Davidson, Tournament Director of the Legends Junior Tour. “Our staff eagerly anticipates this event, and we know the players do too. Veritex’s sponsorship is important to junior golf, and we’re deeply grateful for their support. This being the tournament’s silver jubilee year adds an extra layer of excitement. We can’t wait to see top players from Texas and neighboring areas compete.”

“Our staff and members eagerly anticipate this event every year. It’s an honor to host such talented junior golfers who are destined for greatness,” Craig Liddle, Director of Golf at Lakewood Country Club shared. “Players like Jordan, Chandler, Pierceson, and Preston are just a couple of examples among many who have launched their careers while winning this tournament.”

This year’s Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the second major event on the boy’s 2024 schedule, promises to be another memorable affair. Over the years, the tournament has seen the rise of notable golfing talents such as Ryan Baca, Cody Gribble, Chandler Phillips, Luke Dossey, Pierceson Coody, and J. Holland Humphries. Notably, two players have achieved the remarkable feat of winning the tournament twice in three consecutive years: three-time Major Champion Jordan Spieth (2010-2012) and most recent, 2024 Individual Big 12 Champion Preston Stout (2021-2023).

Lakewood Country Club will serve as the host venue for the 23rd time in the tournament’s history. Established in 1912 and initially designed by Scottish architect Tom Bendelow, the course underwent redesigns by Texan Ralph Plummer in 1947 and by the team of Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore in 1995 and 2014. The par-71 layout spans 6,750 yards and features Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens.

Renowned for its caliber, the tournament holds rankings from World Amateur Golf, Golfweek, and Junior Golf Scoreboard. Top finishers will earn numerous AJGA performance stars, including “Fully Exempt” status.

The Monday Qualifier is scheduled for June 3rd at 8:30 AM, with the First Round of the tournament commencing on June 4th at 8 AM from both the No.1 and No.10 tees.
