18th Women’s Eclectic heads to Coyote Ridge Golf Club
The 2026 Texas Golf Association Women’s calendar kicks off with the 18th Women’s Eclectic at Coyote Ridge Golf Club. The season opener is scheduled for March 3-4, setting the stage for a highly anticipated year of competition.
“We are excited to finally be kicking off the 2026 season,” said Texas Golf Association’s Director of Women’s Golf Kristi Knight. “The ladies are eager to get back on the course and into tournament play, and we get to do that with one of the most unique events on the calendar.”
The Women’s Eclectic offers a twist on traditional tournament play by rewarding consistency and improvement. Rather than simply combining two rounds for a total score, the eclectic format allows players to create a single “best-of” scorecard from multiple rounds.
In a typical two-round eclectic, golfers play 18 holes on each day. Scores are then compared hole by hole, and the lowest score on each hole is recorded. Those 18 best-hole scores make up the final eclectic total. For example, if a player scores six on the first hole in round one but improves to four in round two, the four becomes the score for that hole. If a player scores five on both rounds of the second hole, five is recorded. This approach often results in a total score lower than either individual round.
“It’s not often you get to play a different format other than just stroke play,” Knight said. “You don’t see many eclectic events anymore, and this is usually one of our most anticipated events of the year. You’re not just competing against the field—you’re also competing against yourself, trying to improve on holes that didn’t go as planned the first round.”
For the first time in the event’s history, the 18th Women’s Eclectic will be held at Coyote Ridge Golf Club in Carrollton.
Since opening in July 1999, Coyote Ridge has earned a reputation as one of North Texas’s top public golf destinations. Conveniently located near Highway 121, I-35, and the Dallas North Tollway, the club is at the center of one of Dallas’s fastest-growing business corridors.
The course offers a unique experience with two distinct nines that feel like separate courses in a single round. The front nine has the character of a coastal links layout, featuring wide fairways, rolling terrain, and scenic greens framed by water, bunkers, and native grasses. The back nine is tighter and more strategic, winding through what was once a Trinity River gravel quarry, now transformed with natural grasses, seasonal flowers, and mature oak, pecan, and elm trees. The course features Champion Bermuda greens with 419 Bermuda fairways and roughs, offering exceptional playing conditions.
“We are thrilled to bring this event to a new venue that has such a strong reputation in the DFW Metroplex and across Texas,” Knight said. “Coyote Ridge will be a great test for the ladies, and the staff and membership are excited to host the event and showcase their incredible layout.”
At last year’s event at The Bandit Golf Club in New Braunfels, Erin Flynn of League City captured the overall gross championship with an eclectic score of 65, six under par. She improved her score on seven holes in the final round, posting birdies on holes 2, 12, 16, and 18 to secure the win. Lili Taufa of Austin claimed the overall net title with a net score of 59, improving 19 strokes from her opening round. Taufa surged up the leaderboard to win the championship in a scorecard playoff.
The 18th Women’s Eclectic will feature 36 holes of individual competition over two days. Players will record scores on each hole both days, with their best net score counting toward their overall total. The field is limited to 100 participants, and all scoring for the championship will be based on net scores.
Round 1 of the 18th Women’s Eclectic will commence 9 a.m. with a shotgun start on Tuesday, March 3.
