12th Women’s Stroke Play Championship heads to Bentwater Yacht and Country Club

The 12th Women’s Stroke Play Championship will head to Bentwater Yacht & Country Club, taking place on the Miller Course from July 24-26, marking the second major championship on the TGA women’s calendar in 2026.

“We are excited to bring this championship to Bentwater Yacht & Country Club,” said tournament coordinator Mollee-Jo Crain. “It will be a great test for the players, with narrow fairways and approach shots that will need to be accurate time and time again.”

The Miller Course opened in 1993 as one of three championship layouts at Bentwater, designed by architect Scott Miller. The par-72 track stretches to 6,809 yards from the tips and sits along the shores of Lake Conroe, with tree-lined fairways, pine straw framing much of the layout and Champion Bermuda greens throughout.

The course opens with a lengthy par 5 that demands a precise tee shot into a narrow, tree-lined landing area before a testing approach guarded by bunkers. The signature stretch comes at the par-3 14th, bordered by the waters of Lake Conroe and regularly ranked among the best par 3s in Texas.

The championship will introduce a new Mid-Amateur division in 2026, expanding the event to two divisions for the first time. The Championship division will play a yardage between 5,900 and 6,200 yards, while the new Mid-Amateur division — open to players who have reached their 25th birthday by the first round — will play between 5,600 and 5,800 yards.

“We are excited to highlight the mid-amateur division,” mentioned Crain. “We have so many talented players and want to have them showcase their skills at a major championship.”

The 12th Women’s Stroke Play Championship field will be set with the low 60 Amateur handicaps and the low 24 Mid-Amateur handicaps. Play will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play. A Women’s Stroke Play champion and a Women’s Mid-Amateur champion will be crowned at the conclusion of play.

Yvonne Chamness of Austin won the 11th Women’s Stroke Play Championship last year at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort, carding a final-round 72 to win by five shots over Savannah Dupre.
