105th Women’s Texas Amateur presented by Hytera US set for June 23-26
The 105th Women’s Texas Amateur presented by Hytera US will kick off the first major championship on the Texas Golf Association’s women’s calendar in 2026. The prestigious event will be held at The Nelson Golf & Sports Club – TPC Las Colinas in Irving from June 23-26.
“We are excited for the Women’s Texas Amateur to arrive once again,” said Texas Golf Association Director of Women’s Golf Kristi Knight. “This is always a great part of the year, and we get to see the best women golfers in the state compete once again.”
The Women’s Texas Amateur is considered the state’s premier women’s golf championship and consistently attracts a strong field that includes accomplished juniors, talented collegians, successful mid-amateurs and senior standouts. The Spring Lake Cup creates memorable moments each year, and many past champions have gone on to distinguished careers in the sport.
The 105th Women’s Texas Amateur is the only match play event on the Women’s TGA schedule. After 18 holes of stroke play qualifying, the top 32 players advance to the championship bracket. The remaining field is divided into eight flights of eight in single elimination. Championship matches will commence June 26.
The Nelson Golf & Sports Club – TPC Las Colinas will host the women’s major championship for the first time.
Few championship venues in Texas can match the pedigree of the TPC Course. Originally opened in 1983 as TPC Las Colinas, the Jay Morrish-designed layout was crafted with input from Texas legends Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw and quickly became one of the state’s premier tests of golf. For 35 consecutive years, from 1983 through 2017, the course served as the home of the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson, welcoming champions including Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Payne Stewart and Fred Couples.
Now operating as The Nelson Golf & Sports Club, the storied Irving venue continues to honor its championship tradition while embracing a new era. The TPC Course has undergone significant renovations over the years while retaining the strategic character and demanding finish that defined its decades on the PGA Tour. As the 105th Women’s Texas Amateur arrives at The Nelson from June 23-26, the state’s best amateur players will compete on the same fairways that have long stood among Texas golf’s most celebrated stages.
“It’s not often you get to hold an event at such a prestigious venue,” Knight said. “The women are getting to play where so many golfing greats have walked, competed and won. Now they also get a chance to show off their skills on the same course.”
The Women’s Texas Amateur also enters its third consecutive year as a USGA Exemption Event, with the champion receiving an exemption into the 126th U.S. Women’s Amateur at The Honors Course.
At the 104th Women’s Texas Amateur held at Corpus Christi Country Club, Grace Jin of Huntsville defended her title, becoming one of just two players to do so in recent years. Before Jin and Emma McMyler accomplished that feat, it had not been achieved since Mina Hardin won in 1999 and 2000.
A three-peat will not be in play this year, as Jin is not in the field. The last time a player won three consecutive Women’s Texas Amateur titles was Mary Ann Harrison of Houston, who did so from 1967-69.
The 105th Women’s Texas Amateur welcomes back several notable names vying to add their names to the Spring Lake Cup. The field includes Dallas Baptist University golfer Ella Cheek; University of Texas Commit Shyla Brown; TCU women’s golf commit and No. 94-ranked Junior Golf Scoreboard player Gia Ahlowalia; Team Texas top points earner Elizabeth Bellindir; and 104th Women’s Texas Amateur Semi-Finalist and Global Golf Post Women’s Mid-Amateur First Team honorable mention Shannon Fish-Martin, among others.
Stroke play qualifying begins June 23 at 7:30 a.m. off the No. 1 tee. Round of 32 and Round of 16 matches will take place June 24 for the championship flight. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches are scheduled for June 25, with the championship match set for June 26.
